Dime Piece Battle: Who you would you do?

July 4, 2008

Its time for another TheSportsAffiliate.com favorite…the dime piece battle. I am putting up Serena Williams vs Venus Williams. This has probably been debated many a times, but its time to visit this again as they battle each other at Wimbledon. I still dont know which is who. All i know is that one has a bigger ass than the other. They are definitely built differently. I like the one on the left, whichever one that is….

Vote on my poll.

Wimbledon 2008 Singles Championships

July 4, 2008

The Men and Women’s singles final for Wimbledon 2008 are set. On the Women’s side it is Serena Williams vs Venus Williams. On the Men’s side it will be Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal.

Let’s start with the Men’s final. Bodog has the following odds:
Roger Federer (-150)
Ragael Nadal (+120)
This is a pretty even match. Its hard to say who is favored in this matchup. On grass or hard court Federer is 5-1 again Nadal. Nadal is 11-6 against Federer on clay. Federer’s serve has been lethal throughout the tennis tournament. Also considering they are playing on grass, that is where Federer is most comfortable. Take the favorite - Federer.

The odds from Bodog on the women’s matchup are the following:
Venus Williams (even)
Serena Williams (-130)

The Wimbledon 2008 Men’s seminfals are set. Here are the matchups and odds from Betus.com:

Roger Federer (-2500) vs Marat Safin (+900)
Rainer Schuettler (+1800) vs Rafael Nadal (-10000)

I doubt you will see any upsets. It will be a Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal final. Federer is 8-2 against Safin. Rainer Schuettler is a longshot he is 4-13 in ATP level matches. However Nadal is 3-1 against him. With that said I dont think Nadal or Federer will lose.

The final for the Wimbledon 2008 Women’s singles tennis championship is set. It will be Serena Williams vs Venus Williams. Venus Williams is (Even) and Serena Williams is (-140) in odds from Bodog. Serena Williams leads the matches 8-7 all time. She has won the last five times in Grand Slam Finals, two of which are Wimbledon finals. It will be an excellent match. Neither has lost a set. Even Nick Bolletieri wont make a pick, it will be that close. Im going with Serena, she had stayed pretty focus in the tournament. She has 48 aces, while Venus as 34 but has tied for the lead in double faults.

Wimbledon 2008 Women’s Semifinal Set

July 2, 2008

The Wimbledon Women’s Semifinal is set. There is a slight rain delay in the men’s matches. As soon as those tennis matches conclude I will post the latest odds.  Its the Williams’ sisters, Venus Williams and Serena Williams back in the semifinals again and it would be a nice matchup to see them in the finals. They will have to go through Jie Zhang, the chinese player out of no where. She was allowed into the Women’s singles because of her doubles play. Elena Dementieva one out of 16 Russian women tennis players to make it the semifinal.

Nick Bolletieri was able to pick all the winners except Jie Zhang, I dont think anyone had Jie Zhang to reach the semifinals of Wimbledon.  Here are the latest odds from Bodog and Nick’s picks.

Venus Williams (-350) vs Elena Dementieva (+250) - Nick’s Pick - Venus Williams
Its been a smooth ride for Venus Williams. Elena Dementieva has had to fight her way to the semifinals. Venus Williams is 5-2 against Elena Dementieva. According to Bolletieri, as long as Venus Williams plays her game, she should win.

Serena Williams (-650) vs Jie Zheng (+400) - Nick’s Pick - Serena Williams
This is an obvious pick. How would someone out of no where take on one of the best in the world ? Then again, we have seen odder things happen. Serena Williams believe it or not is 1-0 against Jie Zheng, they played in 2004. Serena Williams cant play softly and believe that lowly ranked Jie Zheng would not upset her in a heartbeat. It will be one of those freak matches where everyone will be rooting for the underdog Jie Zheng. The crowd will probably want to see her put up a fight and upset Serena. I agree with Nick Bolletieri though, Serena Williams will win. A bet of +400 for Jie Zheng is a very attractive bet. The oddsmakers would have made it larger if it were a greater upset. I think she has a stronger chance than Dementieva to upset a Williams.

Can Jie Zheng pull it off ? Let me know your thoughts !

Wimbledon 2008 Women’s Singles Round 4

June 29, 2008

Here are the women’s matchups frrom Betus.com along with Nick Bolletieri’s predictions:

Serena Williams (-1000) vs Bethanie Mattek (+500)Nick’s Pick - Williams
-Williams is 1-0 against Mattek. This will again come with experience. Mattek is playing in the fourth round for the first time in her career. Look for Williams to just dominate this match. With Ivanovic and Sharapova out, Serena Williams is now the new favorite to take it all.

Svetlana Kuznetsova (-115) vs. Agnieszka Radwanska (-125) Nick’s Pick — Kuznetsova
-Kutznetsova is 4-1 against Radwanska. Again the it will be experience vs inexperience. Kuznetsova looks to have the edge.

Venus Williams (-800) vs. Alisa Kleybanova (+425)Nick’s Pick - Williams
-The two have never played in a match up. Kleybanova is ranked #42 in the world. Venus Williams was serving 127 mph serve. If she can keep this up Kleybanova has no chance.

Elena Demetieva (-300) vs. Shahar Peer (+200) Nick’s Pick - Demetieva
-Demetieva has won three in a row in this matchup. Demetieva hits the ball flat on the grass court.

Nicole Vaidisova (-145) vs Anna Chatvedtadze (+105)

Jie Zhang (-150) vs Agnes Szavay (+110)

Nadia Petrova (-275) vs Alla Kudryavtseva (+190)

Tamarine Tanasugarn (+275) vs Jelena Jankovic (-450)

Wimbledon 2008 Men’s Singles Round 4

June 29, 2008

We are down to the final 16 at Wimbledon. Here are the latest matchups from Bodog.com along Nick Bollettieri’s Predictions:

Fernando Verdasco (+160) vs Mario Ancic (-220)Nick’s Pick — Ancic
Ancic is 1-0 against Verdasco. Verdasco has not had any experience in winning a big match yet.

Roger Federer (-3300) vs Lleyton Hewitt (+1000)Nick’s Pick — Federer
Roger Federer is 13-7 against Hewitt. The last person to win Wimbledon not named Roger Federer is Lleyton Hewitt.

Mikhail Youzhny (+550) vs Rafael Nadal (-1000)Nick’s Pick — Nadal
Nadal is 6-4 vs Youzhny. If this match heads into an extended match, Youzhny wont last. He has played plenty of extended tennis.

Richard Gasquet (+115) vs Andy Murray (-155)Nick’s Pick — Murray
Murray is the home town favorite. He has been playing well. But Murray is 0-2 vs Gasquet. Look for Murray to put up a fight and take the victory.

Marcos Baghdatis (-250) vs Felicano Lopes (+180)

Janko Tipsarevic (-350) vs Rainer Schuettler (+250)

Marin Cilic (-225) vs Arnaud Clement (+165)

Marat Safin (-120) vs Stanislas Wawrinka (-120)

Here are the early odds from Bodog. Get your bets in before they close !

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the two favorites, they seem to have a rivalry going on. Dont sleep on Novak Djokovic, he is like a third wheel seeking to ruin the party. Andy Roddick seems to have disappeared. I doubt he will be making a run.

On the Women’s side you have the Williams sisters who are always in contention along with Anna Sharapova. Look for Ana Ivanovic and Jelan Jankovic (wow…say those names five times really fast).
