Sylve to face Bahdi on Paul-Perry undercard

The undercard for Jake Paul’s eight-round cruiserweight boxing match with Mike Perry at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on July 20 is coming together with a few of the fighters that were slated to fight on the undercard of Paul’s originally scheduled fight with Mike Tyson — which has since been rescheduled for November 15 — appearing on the card.

Most Valuable Promotions’ highly touted prospect Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-0, 9 KOs) will face Lucas “Prince” Bahdi (16-0, 14 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight battle. Sylve was originally slated to face Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield but an injury to Schofield forced him out of the fight. Bahdi has scored three consecutive stoppages and was last in action on June 1, when he secured a fourth-round TKO against Jose Luis Rodriguez. The undefeated Sylve, 20, is coming off a unanimous decision over Estivan Falcao in February.

“I’ve been training hard for a fight on Saturday, July 20, and I’m thrilled to still be able to get in the ring as originally planned,'” said Sylve. “My opponent may have changed, but the result will be the same: I will get the W and continue my path to greatness.”

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is set to fight on July 20 against a former MMA fighter. Instead of welcoming the debuting Darren Till to the boxing ring, Chavez Jr. will face former UFC middleweight Uriah Hall. Hall, 39, has competed in the boxing ring before, taking a unanimous decision over former NFL Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell in October 2022. Hall is best known for his stint on The Ultimate Fighter 17 and produced a highlight reel knockout of Adam Cella with a spinning hook kick. His last two appearances in the UFC were losses against former middleweight champion Sean Strickland and Andre Muniz. This will be Hall’s first time competing in nearly two years.

“I was the first Mexican middleweight champion in history and I’m ready to prove that I have it in me to become a champion again at cruiserweight,” said Chavez Jr. “My return to the ring alongside these phenomenal fighters is an honor, and I plan to win by knockout.”

These new fights, along with Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry, Amanda Serrano vs. Stevie Morgan and Tony Aguilar vs. Corey Marksman will round out the five-fight DAZN PPV main card.

Leading into the pay-per-view will be Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (13-1, 11 KOs) making her first appearance of 2024 against Canada’s Natasha “The Nightmare” Spence (8-4-2, 6 KOs) in an eight-round super middleweight bout. Green suffered the first loss of her professional career in her last outing against Franchon Crews Dezurn for the vacant WBC title in December.

Angel Barrientes (11-1, 7 KOs) will face Puerto Rico’s Edwin Rodriguez (12-8-2, 5 KOs) in an six-round super bantamweight tilt, Ariel “The Golden Hulk” Perez (3-0, 2 KOs) will take on Dane Guerrero (0-0-1) in a four-round light heavyweight fight and Amanda Serrano signee Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro (1-0, 1 KO) will take on Kevin Hill (1-1, 1 KO) in a four-round middleweight bout to round out the undercard.
