“Was Pissed Off”: Virat Kohli’s Admission In Candid Dressing Room Conversation With Will Jacks

Cricket

Will Jacks’ sensational hundred made a mockery of the 201-run target set by Gujarat Titans as Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered a comfortable 9-wicket win in Ahmedabad in the 45th match of IPL 2024 game on Sunday. Chasing the target, RCB reached home with as many as four overs to spare. Jacks scored his half-century in 31 balls and took only 10 balls from there to smash his maiden IPL century in only his fifth match. With RCB needing one run to win, Jacks hit a six to reach the three-figure mark and remained unbeaten on 100 off 41 balls.

Jacks stitched 166 runs with Virat Kohli, who scored 70 not out off 44, for the second wicket to help RCB win the game easily.

A conversation between the RCB batters after the side’s thrilling win over Gujarat Titans has gone viral on social media. In the clip shared by RCB through their official social media handle, Kohli could be heard saying to Jacks, “I was pissed off, I didn’t smash the first ball for six but when I saw you at 94 with one to get, I was like ‘Thank god! I didn’t smash it’.”

After his match-winning fifty, Kohli hit back at his critics. It is worth noting that Kohli’s strike rate in the shortest format has been the talk of the town. His batting against spin has been just another talking point.

“Not really, all the people who talk about strike-rates and me not playing spin well are the ones talking about this stuff. For me, it’s about winning the games for the team and there’s a reason why you’ve done it for 15 years, you’ve done this day in and day out, you’ve won games for your teams, I’m not quite sure that if you haven’t been in that situation yourself, to sit and talk about the game in the box,” said Kohli.

“For me, people can talk about their assumptions day in and day out, but those who have done day in and day out, they know what’s happening and it’s a kind of muscle memory for me now,” he added.
