ENG vs SA 1st Test, Day 1 Live: It has been all about South Africa’s pacers on Day 1 of the first Test against England at Lord’s. After Kagiso Rabada struck early to remove both openers, Marco Jansen got rid of the dangerous Joe Root and then Anrich Nortje dealt the hosts another huge blow by sending the in-form Jonny Bairstow for a duck. Rabada got Lees to edge one behind to wicketkeeper Kyle Verreyne, while Zak Crawley was caught at second slip. Root and Ollie Pope looked to solidify for England after the openers fell, but left-arm seamer Jansen trapped him LBW to dismiss him for 8 off 17. Nortje then got one to swing in and go through the gate as Bairstow fell without adding to the scoreboard. South Africa captain Dean Elgar had won the toss and opted to bowl at Lord’s. While England will look to continue their four-match winning streak, South Africa will want to consolidate their position atop the World Test Championship points table. Interestingly, England have won all their last four matches since Stokes took over as captain batting second, so this match will pose them with a different challenge. (LIVE SCORECARD)
