McCutchen returns to Pirates on one-year deal

Veteran slugger Andrew McCutchen is returning to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team announced on social media.

McCutchen received a one-year deal worth $5 million, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by MLB.com.

The 16-year-veteran hit .232 with 20 home runs and 50 RBIs in Pittsburgh last season, his 11th with the Pirates organization.

McCutchen, 38, a former MVP and five-time All-Star, has a career batting average of .238 with 319 home runs and 1,095 RBIs in his career.
