Phillies reinstate All-Star Bohm from injured list

MLB

The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated infielder Alec Bohm from the 10-day injured list before Sunday’s finale of a three-game series against the visiting New York Mets.

Catcher Aramis Garcia was designated for assignment to make room for Bohm on the 28-man roster.

Bohm, 28, initially was placed on the injured list Sept. 6, retroactive to Sept. 3, because of a left hand strain.

He went 2-for-4 with a double in his lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday in its game at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

A first-time All-Star this season, Bohm is batting .290 with a National League-best 44 doubles to go along with 13 home runs, 89 RBIs, a .343 on-base percentage and a .462 slugging percentage in 131 games.

The Phillies selected Bohm third overall in the 2018 MLB draft. He is a career .279 hitter with 57 home runs, 125 doubles and 328 RBIs in 587 games for Philadelphia since 2020.

Garcia, 31, went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts in three games with the Phillies.
