Eastbourne: Dart wins to set up Rybakina clash

British No. 2 Harriet Dart earned a tough-fought victory against Marie Bouzková of Czechia at the Eastbourne International on Monday, earning a place in the round of 16.

Dart, who is world No. 105, will face top seed Elena Rybakina in the next round.

The Brit fought back from a double break down in the opening two sets, later revealing she was struggling with pain due to a wisdom tooth. However, she fought back to take the first set 7-5 before losing the a second-set tiebreak.

Dart maintained her composure in the third and final set on her way to a 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-4 victory.

“It was an incredible match, so many ups and downs,” Dart said. “Marie’s an incredible fighter and always makes it tough. I’m very happy that it turned my way this time.”

Dart’s compatriots, Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter, will be in action on Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, in the men’s singles draw, Billy Harris followed up his positive performance at Queen’s with a 6-4 7-6 (9-7) victory over British wild card Jacob Fearnley.
