76ers’ Embiid out for second leg of back-to-back

NBA

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid is out for Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs due to left knee injury recovery.

It’s the first game Embiid has missed since returning to the court on Tuesday in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. He had been sidelined for more than eight weeks following a procedure on the lateral meniscus in his left knee.

The Sixers are on the second night of a back-to-back in San Antonio; Embiid scored 30 points in 23 minutes in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

Embiid has averaged 27.7 points in 28.2 minutes in his three games back, all 76ers wins.

Philadelphia enters Sunday’s games one game back in the loss column from the Miami Heat at No. 7 and the Indiana Pacers at No. 6 in the Eastern Conference standings.
