Tim Mickelson has been toting the bag for his older brother Phil Mickelson since Phil and longtime caddy Jim “Bones” Mackay parted ways in 2017.
Tim is retiring from serving as his caddy to spend more time with his family, his brother announced on social media.
“I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special,” Phil Mickelson wrote. “I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life.
“So much has changed since he was single and we started working together. He’s found his life partner, Maranda, they’ve had their second son, and hopefully their family will continue to grow. While Tim is retiring from caddying, I’ll always cherish the many great moments we’ve shared on the course, and I look forward to many more special moments off the course, too.”
Phil Mickelson won three times on the PGA Tour with his brother on the bag. He recorded first-place finishes at the 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship and the 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before capturing his sixth major with a win at the 2021 PGA Championship.
Tim Mickelson previously was a golf coach at Arizona State, where he guided a young Jon Rahm. He then served as Rahm’s agent for a year.
Phil Mickelson, now competing in LIV Golf, did not announce his brother’s replacement. The next event in that league is LIV Golf Miami at Trump National Doral from April 5-7.
