Sarfaraz Khan was finally rewarded for his brilliant run of form in domestic cricket as he was included in India’s squad for the second Test match against England starting February 2. The decision was taken following the injuries suffered by Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul which ruled them out of the match. In the recent past, Sarfaraz has been phenomenal for Mumbai in the domestic circuit and he has also excelled while representing India ‘A’. Sarfaraz’s father Naushad Khan took to social media to express his feelings after the Test call-up and thanked the selectors and fans for showing their support.

“You all know that Sarfaraz got his maiden Test call-up today. I want to thank everyone, especially Mumbai Cricket Association where he grew up. Also, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where he got experience, BCCI and the selectors for trusting in him, and all his fans who prayed for him and supported him,” he says in the video.

“We all hope that he plays well for the country and contributes to the team’s win,” he added.

Rohit Sharma‘s India lost the nail-biting first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad on Sunday after being ahead in the match for most of the opening three days.

India is due to play England in the second of the five-match series in Visakhapatnam starting Friday.

Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar have been added to India’s squad, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
