Sources: Teixeira-Prochazka pushed back to June

Glover Teixeira will have to wait a little longer for his first title defense.

Originally scheduled for UFC 274, Teixeira will now face Jiri Prochazka in a UFC light heavyweight title fight at UFC 275 in June, sources confirmed Saturday with ESPN. Teixeira discussed the new date earlier Saturday in an interview with Brazil’s Canal Combate.

UFC 275 does not yet have an official date or location. The reason for the move was not immediately clear.

UFC 274 is scheduled for May 7 at a location yet to be determined. That pay-per-view card was originally planned for Brazil, which is one of the reasons Teixeira vs. Prochazka was placed on it initially. Teixeira is a Brazil native.

Teixeira (33-7) beat Jan Blachowicz via second-round submission to win the title at UFC 267 last October. He has won six straight. Teixeira, 42, first fought for the title in April 2014, losing to champion Jon Jones. He has the most finishes (13) and submissions (7) in UFC light heavyweight history.

Prochazka (28-3-1) is on a 12-fight winning streak, including capturing his first two UFC fights via second-round knockout. The Czech Republic native is coming off a violent, spinning back elbow knockout of Dominick Reyes last May. Prochazka, 29, is the former Rizin light heavyweight champion.
