UFC Fight Night Tate vs. Vieira: Live results and analysis

MMA

LAS VEGAS — Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate proved she can still fight earlier this year when she returned from a five-year retirement to defeat Marion Reneau in July. But we’ll find out tonight if she can still fight with the best.

Tate (19-7) looked terrific in that third-round finish over Reneau, but tonight’s matchup against Ketlen Vieira (11-2) is a different kind of situation. Reneau retired immediately after the loss to Tate, which was her fifth in a row. Vieira, on the other hand, is still very much in the prime of her career. She turned 30 earlier this year and is 5-2 in the UFC, with losses to only ranked talent in Yana Kunitskaya and Irene Aldana.

If Tate is able to get through Vieira, things would immediately get very interesting for the Las Vegas-based contender. Potential rematches against Holly Holm and even current double champion Amanda Nunes aren’t far off, especially with a finish.
