Usain Bolt Bolting to the NFL ?
August 27, 2008
There are rumors floating around that Olympic Golde Medalist spinter Usain Bolt is being scouted by NFL teams. As you can recall Usain Bolt is perhaps at the moment the fastest man in the World. The question is why would Usain bold to the NFL to be tackled by 300 pound men and risk injury. He can easily be a World Wide Superstar. If he does go to the NFL, he would be a risk. Teams would probably only offer him the minimum salary allowed for rookies. He could reap millions at the Michael Phelps level World Wide.
My take - Usain Bolt will not be bolting to the NFL.

Argentina defeats Brazil advances to Gold Medal game
August 19, 2008
Argentina took an early lead over Brazil in the Olympic semifinals game and closed the game 3-0. Lionel Messi played a brilliant game. They will face Nigeria in the Gold Medal Game. I picked Argentina to win the Gold at the beginning of the Olympics. Brazil just didnt have it today. They were shorthanded when the game ended. Two goals by Javier Mascherano, Liverpool will be excited to have him on the pitch.
Ronaldinho still seemed a little slow and timid, but showed signs that he maybe fit. It may take him another week or two to get his groove back. Messi on the other hand, I cant say enough, he is in mid-season point. I guess he has something to prove after missing some games last year due to injury.
The story behind the game is Brazil has yet to win a Gold Medal in the Olympics in Soccer given their dominance in the World of Soccer. Argentina will have the oppourtunity to win a gold in two consecutive Olympics, its been 40 years since someone repeated at the Olympics. The Nigerians look impressive, this should be an excellent match.
Here are the highlights courtesy of MightyFootball.com
That second goal looked to be a hand or a shoulder ball…but at that point it didnt matter. Argentina just played better today.

US Men’s Olympic Basketball Team Crushes Germany
August 18, 2008
The US Men’s Olympic Basketball Team dominated the Germany National Team 106-57. Dirk Nirwitski is contemplating retiring from international basketball and will concentrate on winning an NBA title. The US Team was lead by Dwight Howard who had 22 points on 9 of 10 shooting.
Can anyone beat the US team ? The original Dream Team is and will always be the best team perhaps ever formed. This team is a close second. The next generation of players are now making their mark. A mature Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are at their prime or almost at their prime. This team will probably stick together for the next Olympics until another generation comes along.
I dont see the US losing a game until the Olympics in 2016.

Usain Bolt is Insanely Fast Bolts to Gold Medal
August 18, 2008
Friend told me that Usain Bolt from Jamaica was toying with other runners in the qualifers in the 2008 Olympics, I didnt believe him. But when I saw that final run I was amazed and riveted. This guys is the real deal. I dont think you will find any enhancements on this guy. Usain is not a short stocky guy with a lot of upper body strength. He is a long and lanky runner. Unlike some of these runners who are built like American Football players with huge upper body and shoulders.
He is Height: 6′4″ · Weight: 198 · Born: 1986-8-21 Where did this guy come from ? He has a promising career.
Here is a clip of his 9.72 World Record run in the 100M before the Olympics:
Here is his 9.69 World Record at the Olympics:
Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson, you are history. Saw hello to Usain Bolt. The only one who will break his record is Usain himself. This record will stand for a while… until the next Olympics.

Lionel Messi and Argentina Unstoppable in Olympics
August 16, 2008
Can anyone stop Argentina ? Brazil ??? maybe. But Lionel Messi and Argentina are sick. I wonder though if Argentina didnt have Lionel Messi in the lineup would they be winning. Messi, today, scored the first goal and setup the winner in extra time to lead Argentina over the Netherlands. Messi continues to draw comparison to Deigo Maradona. Is he the best player in the World, no? However, he is part of an elite group that is part of the best players in the world. He is atleast top 3 players in the world behind Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Michael Phelps is a beast - Wins record 8th gold medal
August 16, 2008
Michael Phelps is not human. He is perhaps one of the worlds greatest athletes. I would suffice to say to put him in the same class as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. I’ve been debating if an average person were to train for four years straight, if that was your job, would you be able to compete with Jordan, Woods, and Phelps ? Phelps is definitely not an average guy. His body is not the average. A short guy in the best shape, training it up would probably never be able to beat Phelps. You would need to have those long arms and long torso to compete. So the answer is NO. These guys are genetics freaks.

Spanish Soccer Team Slant Eye Picture
August 13, 2008
Something that has gone under the radar is the picture of the Spanish Soccer Team pulling their eye’s back to mimic the slant eyes of the Chinese.
From ABC7news.com:
It’s a racially pejorative pose not often associated with goodwill in the United States and many other countries, where a similar gesture is more likely to be seen on a school playground than coming from Olympic statesman.
How bad is this ? Bad enough. The chinese national team should do a picture in matador outfits and fake mustaches. They should then proceed to ride bulls and mimic bull fights on center court. Wouldnt that be amusing ? It would probably more hilarious than offensive to the Spanish. But this kind of stuff should not be condoned. Its almost as bad as racial slurs from fans and other plans in soccer these days.

Argentina continues to roll in Olympic Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal
August 13, 2008
Argentina defeated Serbia 2-0 to take Group A with the maximum amount of points in the Olympics. They have now won 9 straight times in the Olympics dating back to 2004 in Athens. I dont think anyone can beat Argentina. Brazil maybe the only team that can match up against Agentina, but still Brazil look shaky early in the tournament. They will advance out of Group C.
Nigeria defeated the US 2-1. It was difficult seeing the US not advance. All they needed was a draw to advance, but they fell behind to Nigeria 2-0.
Here are the quaterfinals teams and matchups:
Brazil - Cameroon
Italy - Belgium
Argentina - Netherlands
Nigeria - Côte d’Ivoire
Look for Argentina and Brazil to definitely advance. I see Italy and Nigeria advancing also. I’m sticking with Argentina to take the gold again.

Mark Spitz Snubbed at the Beijing Olympics
August 13, 2008
Mark Spitz is upset that he was not invited to the Olympics to see his records broken by Michael Phelps. Dude…. Get over it. Check out how old and crusty he is and his Magnum PI mustache.
“I never got invited. You don’t go to the Olympics just to say, I am going to go. Especially because of who I am,” Spitz told AFP in Hong Kong.
“I am going to sit there and watch Michael Phelps break my record anonymously? That’s almost demeaning to me. It is not almost — it is.”
Does anyone really care ? Eventually Mark Spitz’s records will be broken. Michael Phelps’ records will probably be broken and so on. I recently saw a couple of female gymnasts on TV the other day, they were on the Today Show in Beijing. Now im wondering were they invited or did they just go. From the sounds of it they were invite.
So Mark Spitz, you’re probably just not important enough. So just sit back at your stock broker job and live the rest of your life. You are no longer the record holder by the way.
