NBA Playoffs Championship Odds 2009
No surprises that the LA Lakers (+160), Cleveland Cavaliers (+200), Boston Celtics (+400), Orlando Magic (+750) are favorites to win the 2009 NBA Championship. The second tier teams in terms of odds are the San Antonio Spurs (+2000), Denver Nuggets (+2000), Houston Rockets (+2500), Utah Jazz (+5000). At the bottom Chicago Bulls (+15000), Philadelphia 76ers (+15000), Dallas Mavericks (+8000), Atlanta Hawks (+7500).
Questions surround how Kevin Garnett being out for the entire playoff series will affect the Boston Celtics. That should techinally put the Celtics into the second tier and elevate a team on the Eastern Division. But beyond the Orlando Magic you have Miami Heat +6500, Detroit Pistons (+7000), Atlanta Hawks (+7500), Philadelphia 76ers, and the Chicago Bulls. The Magic and the Celtics are the only two teams in the Top 10 of the favorites, the rest of the Eastern Division is at the bottom in terms of odds. The buzz is perhaps the New Orleans Hornets could make a run like they almost upset the Spurs from last year. The Hornets face a tough 1st round opponents in the 2nd place Denver Nuggets.
The Sports Affiliate likes the LA Lakers vs the Cleveland Cavaliers in the final with the LA Lakers taking it all. Yes it is an all favorite pick, but there is no in the East beside the Orlando Magic that could put together an impressive run.
